Frequently Asked Questions:

How soon can I find out the gender of my baby?

As early as 6 weeks with Sneak Peak Clinical! Check out the Gender DNA Testing tab for more information. Schedule an appointment to find out as soon as the next day if your baby will be a boy or a girl! We can also do ultrasound gender confirmation after 14 weeks gestation.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, all of our services are by appointment only. Call us at 816-824-2867 to book your appointment or click on the Packages tab for a link to book online.

Are elective ultrasounds covered by insurance?

Insurance does not cover the costs of our ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of this ultrasound as an out of pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover as well as ApplePay.

You may bring up to 5  guests with you to your appointment. Our viewing room comfortably fits 5 adults but we also have a few extra chairs to pull into the room if needed. Children are welcome as long as they will be supervised by an adult during your appointment.

*We disinfect our scan room after each appointment and dispose of clinical grade patient paper that is placed over the scan bed to minimize germs.

What should I do to prepare for Appointment day?

Water, Water, Water!!!

Make sure to be plenty hydrated starting 7 days before your appointment. The more hydrated you are, the  better the quality of images we can obtain. This is in order to ensure there is an adequate amount of amniotic fluid around the fetus and that the fluid is clear. Drinking large amounts of water immediately before the 3D ultrasound appointment does not help to have clearer 3D ultrasound images. We recommend 64 oz a day of water for 4-5 days prior to your appointment. *You do not need a full bladder prior to your arrival unless you are coming in for a gender determination exam or an early heartbeat scan*

Does this take the place of an Ultrasound at my doctor’s office?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! You must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and have undergone a medical, diagnostic Ultrasound ordered by your provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and to look for any other pregnancy related issues. We provide 2D/3D/4D imaging for entertainment purposes only.

How long will my ultrasound take?

Our ultrasounds will last anywhere from 10-30 minutes of scan time.

How far along do I need to be for a 4D ultrasound?

If you plan on having only one 4D Ultrasound, we would recommend having the scan performed between the 28th and 32nd week of the pregnancy. However, excellent images of your baby can be obtained anytime after about 22 weeks of pregnancy. We schedule sessions all the way to term.

*While we can never guarantee the quality or number of images obtained, the odds of getting images do tend to go down past the 35th week due to the large size of the baby, less fluid in front of the face and other factors.

Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?

Usually, but not always. Sometimes the baby is not in a good position, ie looking face down,  towards moms back, hands/arms over the face which, placenta location etc all which can cause difficulty seeing the baby's face. If this happens, we will schedule you to come back in one week for free to try again. We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our  studio, or that we can always meet everyone's expectations. Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother's condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.
